Security Snapshot – September 2026

We are pleased to bring you our September Security Snapshot. Each month, we will provide an overview of the key accomplishments of our Community Safety Team, along with any additional operational updates.

August – Executive Summary

August 2026 delivered 2,524 field reports and public interactions across all 21 scheduled rota days, a third consecutive 100% attendance month and the third-highest monthly total on record. The daily street-audit rate held exactly at July’s record level (93 a day), while public interactions eased back to the June level (327) as peak summer footfall passed.

Businesses leaned on the team more than in any month this quarter: 19 radio calls, led by the area’s hotels, covering rough sleeping in fire exits, shoplifting, a suspected intruder and two medical situations. Officers put an unconscious woman into the recovery position outside Paddington Station, stayed with a vulnerable hospital patient until she was safely in an ambulance, and handed an intoxicated 15-year-old visitor to British Transport Police. A new officer joined on 4 August and was the team’s third-highest contributor by month end.

“During one shift, we were contacted by a licenses premise on Praed Street regarding a large group in the area who were causing disruption. We maintained a visible presence, closely monitored the situation, and helped ensure that order was maintained across the surrounding businesses.”

Nicole

“A woman who had left St Mary’s Hospital in distress was running in and out of shops along the street, causing disruption and clearly unwell. I attended the scene with James and kept her calm until the ambulance was able to arrive. Fortunately, we were able to maintain order without calling for additional support from the Police.”

Zakir

“This month, we assisted a lost teenager on Craven Road and safely handed him over to the British Transport Police at Paddington. The teenager was intoxicated and appeared to pose a risk to himself and those around him. Through our prompt response and intervention, the situation was managed safely and no harm was caused.”

“Last month, I joined the PaddingtonNow Community Safety Team. It’s been fantastic getting to know the team and connecting with the many local businesses in the area. I’ve really enjoyed meeting everyone so far and I’m looking forward to everything that’s still to come!
