Security Snapshot – October 2026

We are pleased to bring you our October Security Snapshot. Each month, we will provide an overview of the key accomplishments of our Community Safety Team, along with any additional operational updates.

September – Executive Summary

September 2026 was the team’s busiest month since the programme began: 3,378 field reports and public interactions, 405 more than July’s previous record. All 22 scheduled rota days were worked, a fourth consecutive 100% attendance month. Street audits reached a record 2,773, 126 a day against 93 in July and August, while public interactions held at August’s level (320).

Businesses called on the team more than ever: 40 radio calls, logged at 27 different locations and more than double any previous month. Shoplifting and thefts accounted for 9, and people sleeping in or blocking fire exits for 6. Rough sleeper reports rose from 6 to 22. Officers stayed with two distressed older guests at a hotel until the night manager arrived, cleared a break-in at disused plant rooms peacefully, and stayed with a young woman at risk until police arrived. Business welfare checks restarted, and demographic capture rose for the first time since May.

Nicole:

“This month marks my final month at PaddingtonNow. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the past two years, working with the team to help businesses and residents feel safer in and around the Paddington area. I’d like to thank everyone I’ve had the pleasure of working with and wish the team and the BID every success for the future.”

Zakir:

“This month whilst on patrol we were called by a hotel regarding a disruptive guest. The guest was refusing to exit the premise and displaying rude behaviour towards staff. We were quick to the scene and were able to successfully remove the individual from the premise without causing any further disruption.”

Zach:

“This month we’ve worked closely with the Operations Manager and Westminster Outreach teams to identify rough sleepers in the area. We encourage individuals to connect with StreetLink, where they can be referred to the appropriate support services and access the help they need.”
